Picture over the sofa - It doesn't come to just the right height!
If you want to bring fresh wind into the living room interior, modern murals are always a good idea. Therefore, especially the wall behind the sofa offers a special design. A unique work of art or a picture gallery on the couch can become the focus of the room and wonderfully complement the existing décor. If everything works harmoniously, one should always note something. How to hang an image over the sofa and what distance between the images is recommended when hanging in groups, you will find in today's article.
Who should hang a picture over the sofa?
As a rule, the lower frame side should hang 15 to 20 cm over the backrest of the sofa. Of course, they can also deviate from this rule, to find out what height is perfect in your home. Avoid, however, positioning the image more than a single centimeter above the recommended height. If you hang your artwork on high, it looks as if it was moving away from the couch, rather than being visually attached to it.
Who should have the picture?
The sofa and the overhanging murals should complement themselves to achieve a uniform look. In order to work in an optical equilibrium, the wall image (or that group) should contain at least 2/3 of the length of the sofa. The pictures should also not be wider than the couch, since the sofa is optically suppressed and not inserted in the scene.
Do you have a XXL sofa? To achieve the required size, you best put together a gallery wall. Therefore, the distance between the individual frames should be 5 to 10 cm. Use painter's tape to keep the frames evenly spaced. Far-off-hanging frames work in a cohesive and chaotic place.
Print in individual format
A Gallery Print offers a great deal of play space for individual room design. This will create the art print in the format of your choice and in the size you specify. If you can hang a single image over the sofa, a width of 100 cm is ideal. The image format 120 x 80 cm would be optimal over a 3-sofa. Alternatively, you can create a collage from multiple, different sized images and position the strongest image in the center of the group. Make cardboard templates and place them on the floor in the desired arrangement. So find out what image sizes you need for your collage.
If the wish motif is printed on acrylic glass, the question also arises: matt or glossy? Matt's acrylic glass is subtle and restrained - shiny acrylic glass radiates in crystal clear finish.
Digital print with shiny acrylic glass is perfect for colorful pictures like Carnival in Rio or Summer on Santorini. The lively colors were reshaped and the impression of depth was reinforced. Landscapes, skylines or macro recordings of flowers, insects and co. - everything can and should benefit from the shiny surface. Through the improved color brilliance and sharpness, the viewer feels like a part of the art, as if the object were close enough to touch it.
Some pictures had to be made with retaining clarity. Matte acrylic glass is especially suitable for contrasting colors, pastel images or for black-and-white images with high black finish. Sharpness depth, color brilliance and contrasts remain strong under matte acrylic glass. Glossy surfaces can also capture reflections from a window or overhead, which can affect the image itself. Matte acrylic glass absorbs light and prevents disturbing reflections, regardless of the viewing angle.
