Paint spring pictures with children with acrylic and water colors – 20 instructions and ideas
Children really like to paint pictures and with the coming spring and Easter you also have the perfect reason to spend a creative painting afternoon with your children. But even if you want to design the art class according to the season based on ideas for kindergarten or elementary school, painting spring pictures is great. We will show you how you can paint great spring pictures with children by using different colors, techniques and auxiliary objects.
Spring pictures paint with children – flowers
Flowers are undoubtedly one of the main motifs in spring, because after the gray winter, it is finally becoming colorful. Here are a few ideas of what things and techniques you can use to paint spring pictures.
Paint spring pictures in the kindergarten with pompons
- Clothespins
- Pom poms in different sizes
- Cardboard or paper
- Colours
- Toothbrush or brush
Kindergarten children are sometimes not yet so confident in using brushes and paints and find it difficult to paint details. That is why tools, such as the pompoms in this case, are very useful when painting spring pictures in kindergarten. Clamp the pompoms in the clothespins, put colors on a color palette or a paper plate and you're ready to go.
The grass can be painted either with a toothbrush or with a simple brush. With the smallest bobble (or a brush again) you can paint a few flower stems here and there, which you can then add flowers of different colors by printing dabs of different sizes on the paper or cardboard. Don't forget a few leaves.
Spring pictures paint in the Kiga – tulips with a fork
You decide whether you want to use a metal fork (preferably with three points) or rather plastic. You also need colors that match the flower colors of the tulips, a brush, a paper plate or a palette and a sheet of paper for painting or Carton. Put the colors on the plate, dip the fork in one color and press it onto the paper. Design several flowers in this way and then add flower stems with a brush.
Colorful flower meadow on paper
It is best to use watercolor paper. Design puddles of different sizes from any water color. Several colors can also be combined in one puddle. Once the colors have dried, you can make flowers with a black, waterproof felt-tip pen. How exactly, of course, everyone can decide for themselves. Then the petals that are outside the colored dot can also be colored with watercolors, but they do not have to.
Paint with flowers
Or how about not painting flowers for spring pictures but real flowers instead to the Use painting? You can paint these spring pictures with acrylic, but also with similar colors. Just inquire at the craft store. You need:
- Colours
- Flowers
- yarn
- paper
Place a few small blobs of paint on the sheet of paper a short distance from the edge. The children, of course, decide which shades exactly. With individual flowers, these colors can then be wiped aside, after which the flowers are tied into a bouquet. Spread a few additional blobs of paint on the sheet and blur them in any direction. Of course, the children can also come up with their own techniques. Or how about if you want to paint with acrylic paint:
Dip flowers in color and use them to make prints on paper. The picture looks very nice, but you can add a background and distort the flowers. For this purpose, the colors of the flowers should not be completely dry, but only partially.
Then enter the width of the sheet in light blue color on the left side of the sheet and drag it to the right with a ruler. If the color is not enough the first time, just put some on the sheet again and drag it further to the left (children who are left-handed will find it easier to pull the color from right to left).
Trees as pictures for children to paint
Of course, the trees are now awakening to new life. New green leaves are growing and soon the first trees start to bloom and attract bees. Therefore, you are welcome to paint trees with the children. Here's an idea of how to paint a tree with acrylic and cotton swabs:
First paint the background and once the paint has dried, the trunks and branches in brown or black on the sheet of paper. Tie several cotton swabs together, put colors on a paper plate, dip the bundle of swabs into the green color and dab them along the branches where you want leaves to be. When the color has dried, you can also add a few flowers. A few flowering shrubs or flowers can be painted in the same way at the bottom.
Abstract and motley in spring colors
Certain motifs do not necessarily have to be painted. If you want to paint spring pictures in primary school or kindergarten, you can simply use the right colors to create more abstract works of art. We also have a few ideas for this. Creative images are possible with both Acyrl and watercolors. All shades that are typical for spring are suitable.
Paint spring pictures yourself with water colors
Hardly any child does not enjoy water colors and if you try one of these water color techniques with the children, it is guaranteed to be even more fun.
Spray water colors
With the first idea, the water color is simply put in a spray bottle and then sprayed onto the paper (preferably paper for water colors). Several colors can be sprayed on one after the other to create a colorful work of art (see picture above).
With cleaning alcohol (alcohol)
The picture is initially designed with water colors. In spring, the colors should of course be bright, colorful and friendly. Let the colors dry slightly for about 2 minutes and then dip a cotton swab in the alcohol. Now the children can use it to design patterns on paper.
With salt
Mix a little water with water color and salt until you get a liquid but granular liquid that the children can then paint with. The pictures get an interesting texture.
Another option is to paint any picture and finally sprinkle it here and there with salt. The grains of salt absorb the surrounding liquid, creating a wonderful effect.
Painting with acrylics and Easter eggs
The headline sounds very interesting and the project will be guaranteed for the little ones. Are you looking for other painting techniques for kindergarten, which also fit Easter and with which you can paint great spring pictures, make the right choice. Put acrylic paints in the bins of a pallet or in small cups and place plastic Easter eggs in the colors. Rolling the plastic eggs over the paper creates beautiful pictures. This way you can also paint spring pictures with your finger paint if you prefer.
Spring pictures for painting with feathers
Birds are a typical symbol of spring. In the morning they finally delight us with their pleasant twittering and the migratory birds are slowly but surely returning again. Feathers are a wonderful idea as motifs and as a material for painting, don't you think?
Feathers instead of brushes
Dip a feather in the paint and use it to paint any spring pictures or tie several with a rubber around a brush, a wooden stick or a pen. The type of feathers can also vary – take straight and tight and sometimes soft and fluffy and test which patterns they create.
Footprints with feathers
And if you are already painting with feathers, you can also use them for another technique. Brush in a feather of any color and make one or more prints on paper. This printing technique is particularly suitable if you want to create spring greeting cards or Easter cards with the children.
Integrate real feathers into the spring picture
If you want to paint spring pictures in elementary school or with the older kindergarten children, you can also mix tempera paint with a little glue, put the feathers on the paper and then brush them over with a brush. But use the right shades so that the picture also fits the spring. With too much yellow, red and orange you risk that the finished picture will remind you of autumn leaves (which would of course be suitable for autumn). Instead, go for pink, pink, red, purple, light blue and green and combine them with the shades mentioned.
Spring pictures paint with rainbow
Now that the sun can be seen more and more often, a rainbow can appear. And if not, just paint it with the kids and get it yourself.
Rainbow with water colors and washi tape
Glue washi tape over the paper in any way and then paint the stripes of the rainbow over it and across the entire width of the sheet. Once the paint has dried, you can carefully peel off the tape. You are also welcome to use other motifs, colors, patterns and effects instead of the rainbow (e.g. one of the ideas with watercolor above).
Paint spring pictures with acrylic and shaving foam
Another great fun idea is painting with shaving foam. If you are looking for painting ideas with acrylic, you can also use this technique, for which we have already published detailed instructions. On the shaving foam you can not only create a rainbow with colors and then transfer it to a sheet of paper, but also any other spring motifs that are easy for children to paint. For example, butterflies were painted in an interesting way, but also flowers, Easter eggs and much more.
Abstract rainbow
As can be seen in the instructions, spread several blobs of paint (in rainbow colors), then take a long ruler and pull the colors aside. You can leave the image like this or let the colors dry for a few minutes and then add more spots of paint at any point and drag them in different directions.
