The body and bottom of this box are made from Wenge; an open pored west African wood which I leave unfilled. The book matched top panel, handle and feet are Amboyna Burl. This is a very rare and expensive wood from the Southeast Asian Padauk tree. It is usually seen in small, turned objects such as bowls and pens.
